Day 6 Tuesday
Tuesday was a slow going day. I spent the previous night wandering around. I visited the man and headed back home after a brief glimpse at the lunar eclipse. When I woke up later that day someone passed me saying "welcome to charred man 2007". I dismissed the comment, not thinking anything of it. I think I was in the lounge when I learned that Gonzo (aka Paul Addis) had torched the man prematurely. There's one in every bunch, I thought. There are the ones with creative talent who build, out of their creative genius, the images that are in their mind; and, there are the ones, who lack either the creative genius or the physical strength to built anything and instead seek their 15 minutes of fame on the coat tails of others by destroying. The damage he caused was at the expense of Black Rock City. I think he should reimburse the city for damage caused by his actions. Being fined treble the damages including time and material seems like a reasonable start. It could be that his actions were caused by his not feeling a sense of community with the rest of the city. It would be fitting for him to be dressed in prison attire, complete with prison shackles, and be assigned to a position at the DPW's commissary where he can serve food. That way he'd get a chance to meet everyone that he affected and give the people a chance to tell him what they really think. Sending him off to jail away from the BRC community is far too sanitized a solution. Sentencing him to something that makes him understand what the Black Rock community is all about seems like a more fitting "burner" solution. Failing that, a good old stoning would probably work.
