Sangria soirée
Day 5 Monday
We had our lamplighter sangria soirée today. I was surprised to learn how committed the regulars were to this event. I'd met a couple older attendees who had been to the lounge for this event several years in a row. They seemed to know more about it than I did. I had no idea, for example, that we served food! I was out pouring sangria (we had several hundred gallons as I recall) when they pulled me aside and asked when the quesadillas would be served. They were skeptical when I told them that I didn't think there were going to be any. I watched them closely throughout the rest of the night making sure their glasses were full. I asked our bartenders if they knew anything about the quesadillas but they were of the same opinion as me. Later that night low and behold I saw the quesadilla trays being ushered around and sure enough my new friends were one of the first to get their hands on them. We ran out of the sangria after a couple of hours. I'd call the whole thing a giant success.
