Final day of early arrival

Day 4 Sunday

It's interesting how things start to change on the last day of early arrival. The music, which was absent on the days leading up to opening day becomes an essential part of the atmosphere. During the hours leading up to the opening of the gates, people have formed a shanty town around the entrance. From the top of the lounge I can see the massive line of cars waiting to get in. Shortly after the gates are opened people start to flood the bars. I see a group of recent arrivals race to the lounge thirsty for drink and celebration. I've never seen them before, they're not even lamplighters, but they're greeted with open arms. Who knows, maybe I'll be next to them at the chapel prepping the lanterns in the hours to come. Either way they're burners and part of our family.
