Install everything
Sprout is presently running "Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg)". I don't necessarily install every FC version as it comes out. When FC5 came out, they had removed the "Install everything" option. The FC6 release wasn't any better. I've been waiting for them to fix this problem, despite the lame arguments others have
proposed against it. The argument was rather lame, in my opinion, and showed no regard for people who didn't necessarily want to become intimately familiar with all the packages installed on their system. These people missed a simple truth: some people don't want to know about the details of an OS installation; that's for RedHat to worry about. That's their job. After all, if this isn't RedHat's job, then what is? I was under the impression that this, above all, WAS their job. I mean, it's why I joined their little club. Otherwise I would have just rolled my own distribution. I want to let them worry about the toils of building an OS, that's their job, let me focus on my job.
I followed the discussion when FC5 came out but grew tired of the debate. Anyway, FC7, which is due April 24 appears to have this issue resolved. Unfortunately, RHEL5 which is due Feb 28 will be based on FC6.
