Pandora
Finding new music to listen to can be a bit of a challenge. We can listen to our CD's but when we find one we really like, we can eat up other CD's by that artist, but when we've used up all their CD's and listened to them so much that we know just about every word of our favorite songs, how do we find fresh music to listen to so that our friends aren't forced to tie us down and rip the albums from our dead grip.
Regular on air radio stations suck, they're a terrible way to get information on artists. Unless you're in Black Rock City, they play the same boring shit. It's mainstream its watered down and its only a very small selective portion of the music out there.
I love Amazon and they're a great way to learn about new artists. The site does a really good job of telling us what people who bought a given album also bought. The problem is that it takes a bunch of clicks to get all the information and you can't listen to the whole track.
Pandora solves this problem by letting you listen to music through an interface that is very much like a regular radio station. The difference is you can tell it what you like and dislike thereby improving the radio station's odds of finding you music that is catered to your taste.
Below is a link to a live update of songs I've selected as being noteworthy.
