Reunion gig
I spent yesterday night at a high school reunion. A 20 year high school reunion. It wasn't MY high school reunion, I just showed up to shoot it. I schlepped out my all my gear: laptop, camera, backdrop, printer and all the other junk you'd need to line people up and shoot them; took it all the way up to Santa Rosa. I spent the whole day prepping, selling, printing and basically busting my ass and made a nice little fortune. Yeah right, after paying for the print folders, paper, ink, gas and other expenses, we broke even, I think. Still it was a good idea, and with some streamlining it might be worth the effort but the maiden voyage was a dud. Not surprisingly the printer was the wrench in this whole endeavor. The poor little thing was doing a tremendous job, it just did it really really slowly. We did do a couple of cool things, the camera was jacked directly into the laptop so there was no swapping of memory cards. We'd crop, adjust levels, balance and send it right to the printer in a matter of seconds. When we finally did pull the CF card out of the camera the pins got bent. Hopefully I can bend that little puppy back. I'm a little pessimistic.
Nasty word quotes
To get rid of those nasty quotes in word go to format | autoformat | options | AotoFormat As You Type (tab) | Replace as you type (section) | uncheck "straight quotes" with "smart quotes". Sometimes this selects all the text in the document and appears to change it in some way, if this happens just undo to get it back to the way it was. Or, better yet, do this setting change when you don't have a document open.
